New Domain HTTPS address Now here
Forum HTTPS address |
Dear members and non members, As you may know most sites will be going over to the new HTTPS addresses and we have gave it lots of thought about moving the site in to the world of HTTPS. No the good news is we have now thought about this and we will be going over to the new address in the next 1 to 4 days. Q, What will change? A, The forum address will go from https://www.achatworld.com To https://www.achatworld.com This will remove the lock icon from your browser's and make us linked as a safe site. Q, Do i need to change my bookmarks that i have saved for this site A, No the old links will still work so no need to change a thing. Q, What Else will need to be done? A, Lots of things will need to be changed on the forum but most of it will be done behind the scenes by myself " @Ape " and @Jenny and maybe the other staff members. Q, Is there any thing the members of the forum can do to help? A, YES sure there is ![]() Video of hows this is done: Any problems with the site after the change over Please let us know by posting HERE!! Thank you, ![]() UPDATE: Good news we are now in HTTPS mode and the sites URL is now setup. If you find any problems let Me know in this thread Thank you. |

Re: New Domain HTTPS address Now here
my personal opinion is that i prefer not to change to https
imagine every guest who visits my forum to have multiple pop up warning windows to close.. that will be bad publicity for me

Re: New Domain HTTPS address Now here
Hello,
I know what your saying and No there is no tool that can help you change all of your items on your forum it has to be done by hand like we have to here.
If your items are new say 3 months old some will be in the new HTTPS and some will be in the old HTTP address.
The problem is really do you want your site to be safe to your members when logging in and marked as safe to google and other browsers?
Right now only Google Chrome gives a site warning to say your site is not safe when logging in but there is a grey lock with a red line across it saying your site maybe a risk.
Now if you change everything on your Site to HTTPS then this warning will no longer show but if you do nothing then when all browsers are made to go the same way your site will be marked as unsafe and the popups will show on all pages if you like it or not.
No as for FM well yes OK they make a small number of credits (money) out of this every year off of all that pick to use the HTTPS address system and that's fine in my eyes as they do all the work at their end so we don't have to.
The reason i was going over is that we have a small site and there is nothing that hard about moving over to the other address for us OK it will take time making the change of all the skin and icons but it will be done before we are all made to go over.
Now if you have a Godaddy address you still have to make your site safe for your members and that is all this new system is is making your members data safe.
so it is up to you if you change over or not but we have found it better to change over as we want to be seen as a safe site on google and other browsers.

Re: New Domain HTTPS address Now here
the thing is if you Don't change over your site will be marked as unsafe by google and other browsers and that will stop your members from wanting to come to your site as it's marked as unsafe.@skouliki wrote:my personal opinion is that i prefer not to change to https

Now as for the popup well this will only show until you change all your links that have the HTTP address then after that it will not have the popups.

Re: New Domain HTTPS address Now here
If you don't change over when firefox change over to the full system you will get the popups saying your site is not safe when going to log in all browsers will have it right now you will just get this
soon the system will change over and your get a popup saying the site you are about to log into is marked as unsafe by google or something in that lines do you still want to log in ?
that is why im going over to the HTTPS address Yes it will a lot of work on my side to get the icons and backgrounds and all the CSS codes updated but its worth it in the long run.

Re: New Domain HTTPS address Now here
Thank you @Samantha I have looked over all the good and the bad and think it cant hurt to do it and the change over was not as hard as i thought as all the servimg.com staff changed over on there own after the change over today the only ones i had to change was Photobucket and tinypic
All the others changed on there own

for as little as £4.70 a year i can't see why not as for javascripts well they also changed over all but some codes outside our systems but i fixed that just by the code used.

Re: New Domain HTTPS address Now here
Not sure why you are getting that popup as if you look at the address it is not our address and also i have just logged in as jenny on Google Chrome and don't see the popup your showing me

Also we are ad free so the Ad's for that sort of site should not show up on here.
